This overfilling may lead to the eruption of hot food and liquids when the pressure cooker is opened.

The defective pressure cookers were distributed in both the United States and Canada. In the US, Best Buy has received 17 complaints of burn injuries, some of which were severe second-degree burns, along with 31 reports of instances where food was forcefully ejected under pressure. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries in Canada, according to the country's health department.

The CPSC advises consumers to check that the inner pot is not filled beyond two-thirds capacity when pressure cooking and ensure that the lid is fully locked before starting the pressure cooking process. Additionally, users should refrain from attempting to open a pressure cooker until the valve on the lid unlocks, indicating that the contents are no longer pressurized.

Affected customers are urged to contact Best Buy promptly to receive a free replacement for the inner pot and a new valve that signals when the pot is securely locked and pressurized.
